Headteacher's Welcome
Expanding horizons, exploring potential and embracing faith
“ Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
On behalf of the children, staff and governors I am very pleased to welcome you to Harby C of E Primary School.
I am very proud to be Headteacher of our school, leading a team of dedicated staff and working closely with families to provide the best opportunities and experiences for all children to fulfil their potential. Harby C of E Primary School is a small, rural primary school for pupils aged four to eleven years in the Vale of Belvoir. The school aims to provide a friendly, caring and secure environment, in which all the children are valued and achieve their full potential - living out our school vision above through our Christian values of 'Koinonia, Thankfulness, Friendship, Compassion, Endurance and Peace.'
Our school is at the heart of the community and places great emphasis on its relationships with pupils, parents and other members of the community.
We are caring and inclusive and welcome all children to our school community -striving to find the right balance of support and challenge to help children to make good progress and be the best that they can be. We put the children at the heart of everything that we do. We value character strengths and are an accredited Route to Resilience school - supporting children in embedding important life skills such as open mindedness, teamwork, empathy, perseverance and creativity. We have a family feel and children in all classes enjoy opportunities to mix across the school and enjoy shared learning activities - such as paired reading or themed curriculum days. This strengthens our support for each other and our school community feel, which is often commented upon positively by visitors.
Our school has implemented significant development and improvements - both in terms of the building layout and resources and also in teaching and learning and the curriculum. We are proud that we have secured 'GOOD' judgements in all areas in both our Ofsted Inspection (November 2022) and our SIAMS Inspection (November 2022). This confirms that the quality of education that we are providing is good. By providing a broad based curriculum in stimulating and well resourced surroundings, by developing positive attitudes to activities and learning, by fostering care and respect for others and by using effective teaching methods we can effectively support all children to reach their potential.
Our school website has lots of information about all aspects of school life and I hope you find it useful and informative. It can, of course, only give a flavour of our school - should you have any further questions or wish to come and visit please contact the school office and we will be very happy to help.
