Our Friends of the School
The Friends of the School is a group of friendly parents and staff who volunteer to support with fundraising and school activities to promote school community engagement and raise money to support the children's experiences.
They meet regularly and plan events such as a Welcome Evening, Christmas parties and support with our nativity, sports day and much more. The main event that they plan and organise is the Belvoir Challenge.
What is the Belvoir Challenge?
The Belvoir Challenge is a cross-country run or walk of either 15 or 26 miles. It has a fantastic reputation and we now expect well over 1000 entrants from far and wide who pay to come and enjoy the beautiful vale scenery and eat our lovely cakes! It has been going for over 30 years and all the money raised goes directly to enriching your children’s school experience.
Why do we do it?
The Belvoir Challenge is the school’s one and only big fund-raising event of the year. We don’t ask for help for anything else. This is because we can raise about £20,000 in one go – an enormous amount for a school fundraiser! All the money raised goes to the school and is spent on things like books, trips, refurbishment, IT, music and playground equipment. This ensures that we meet our aim of enriching children's educational experiences and keeps the costs of school trips down as we can subsidise them. It is a wonderful event and there is so much community spirit during it - children and adults and the village help out and we all have a lot of fun!
Come and join us!
Everyone is welcome to come along to our meetings - the more the merrier! Ideas and events are discussed and planned and it’s a great way to get to meet other parents. They are held in the evening, at school. Look out for the dates in the Link Letter.
